Baking Fails & Don’t Miss This Women’s Event this Sunday Night

Snow surprised us, falling throughout the day yesterday in Minnesota.

After just exclaiming aloud how much of the sodden grass I could see in our yards and neighborhoods this week, I laughed yesterday and watched snow flakes falling and hiding everything under a fluffy white blanket, two inches thick.

In a sliver of time while my home-schooled son was gone to a college class, I peeled black frozen bananas and dumped in mushed thawed rhubarb chunks.

“It should count as a third banana in the banana bread recipe, right?” I figured.

No.

Nope.

It didn’t.

A hour later, flat, wet-looking, half-tall loaves of banana-rhubarb bread stared back at me.

My husband and son eyed the short wet sweet breads dubiously with me.

“Yes,” I agreed. “That’s right. I forgot. Baking is a science. It’s less forgiving than cooking where you can throw random ingredients together and usually still get delicious meals. Baking likes precision…”

I trailed off and we looked at the breads, slicing them into short one inch tall wedges. They tasted buttery and … well, damp.

“I should have thrown in more flour,” I mused and bit into a buttery sodden bite.

Free this weekend? Join me and other women this Sunday night at the Called Conference’s The Gathering event in Ramsey, MN. Don’t worry other people will be bringing the delicious baked goods and I’ll focus on other things, like digging into God’s word. Come for a night of encouragement and renewal with worship, delicious refreshments, a chance to get to know other women, and I’m honored to speak. Ever wonder if you’re seen and truly known? Eavesdrop into a conversation between God and humans to see how deeply loved and chased by God you are. Sign up here right now to grab a spot.

Join me at any of these great events coming up! I’ll be speaking at the last two.
